#RPGaDAY2020 : 7 – Couple

The theme of day 7 of the RPG a Day challenge 2020 is Couple, and man did we have something great to say about it. The only problem, we’ve already said it in our RPG Duet article. Since writing that article, we haven’t been able to play again (although it’s happening this weekend!) Instead let’s talk about something myself and my other half worked on together this week.

We’re proud to announce that we have a new character Distinctive Features generator. Between the two of us, we were able to come up with 180 unique character features to help your NPC’s stand out in the crowd. But why is this important? It’s for player retention. As a game master, you’ll throw out countless NPC’s at your players, and you need to make them memorable! To make them memorable, quirks and distinctive features are a must.

For example, who do you think your players will remember more? The captain of the Goblin city’s guard, or the guard who refuses to wear a helmet because it would destroy his magnificent mohawk? No helmet hair for this guard! To me, the one with the most flavor usually becomes an instant hit with my group, which is why Quirks and Distinctive features are a must. Especially if your as bad with names as myself.

Bringing this back around, I want to give a huge shout-out to my other half, without whom I probably would have waited another few months to get this generator created. And I doubt it would have been as complete.
